Save cash & the Catawba

Want to protect the Catawba AND save money on your electric bill? Duke Energy can help you do both with its “Insulate and Seal” program.
You can earn up to $425 in rebates for making your home more energy efficient, Duke Energy says.
And that protects the Catawba River, adds the Catawba Riverkeeper, since we use more water producing energy with Duke Energy’s coal- and nuclear-powered generators than for other uses in our homes.
“Is your home drafty? Do you feel uneven temperatures when you go from room to room? Does your HVAC system run more than you think it should? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you should check out Insulate and Seal – a recent addition to our Smart $aver® portfolio of energy efficiency services.”
  • Duke Energy says the Insulate and Seal program will:
  • Increase the effectiveness of your attic insulation.

  • Seal your home’s “envelope.”

  • Reduce air leakage in your ductwork.

  • Insulate your ductwork.

The program has four steps:

  1. Using Duke Energy’s website, you can find a participating BPI-certified contractor.
  2. Then you speak to the contractor about program details, pricing and scheduling.
  3. The contractor performs the work on your home.
  4. You receive a rebate from Duke Energy, payable upon completion of efficiency upgrades. To qualify, upgrades must have been completed since Aug. 1, 2012.
